Meet Mr Knut Jensen (above) a Senior Advisor in the Norwegian Directorate of Taxes presently on secondment to Norad, the Norwegian aid outfit. Knut, a Guest at Chanters Lodge, was kind enough to spare his time during his short visit to Livingstone to appear as our Guest on the most recent edition of the Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring Jay Hillz. The Experience is our weekly radio show airing live from 20.30-21.30 hrs CAT every Sunday night on Zambezi 94.1 fm, Livingstone's leading local radio station.
Knut told listeners that he had been in Zambia for the previous two weeks and in Livingstone for the past three days, he was due to return to Lusaka the following day and then on home to Oslo the day after that, an exceedingly long journey altogether. His time in Lusaka had been spent co-ordinating a workshop at Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel for tax officials from six different African countries including Ghana, Mozambique and Tanzania, discussing 'mutual collaboration'. "Richard's old stamping ground The Ridgeway" commented Milli Jam. Knut had been recommended to Chanters Lodge by a colleague in the Norwegian Embassy in Lusaka, and had been happy during his stay. He had travelled from Lusaka to Livingstone by coach and would return to the capital by the same means.
The music on the show was great with latest hits from Years and Years as well as Marlon Roudette. MJ and Jay chose work from Jay Rox (hot in Zambia right now) as well as Emile Sande. Others were by Ne-Yo and Zambia's Mampi. Our oldie of the week was from Alicia Keys and our pick was a new track from Jesse Glynne. We closed with Alex Adair's 'Make Me Feel Better' - which is what we hope our show does for listeners on their Sunday evenings!
Knut said he had enjoyed bargaining with the Zambian traders when he was busy in Livingstone buying presents for his family back in Norway, but felt the traders had probably come out on top! He told us that he was divorced from his first wife but plans to re-marry very soon. He has one son and a grand daughter, the little girl is just a year and a half old. "Do you baby sit?" We wondered. "Every other Wednesday evening!" Was our tax advisor's quick reply!
Knut had much enjoyed his visit to see Victoria Falls which he described as a huge area, and told us that yes, he had got wet, and yes he had got tired from so much walking! He had also enjoyed a tour around Livingstone Museum.
Asked where he would like to be and what he would like to be doing ten years' from now, Knut told us that he would like to be alive, retired and enjoying doing some voluntary work and spending more time with family and friends. He had enjoyed Zambia's warm weather as well as the warmth of its people and culture. In this regard he had much enjoyed watching the Womens' Day march in Livingstone that morning.
We thanked hm for appearing on our show and wished him all the best!
